Women’s Inter-County Double Rink

Worcestershire Ladies met Devon Ladies in the first round on Sunday, 24^th June at Arrow BC, Bristol. It was a dry day for a change and there was some excellent bowling from both rinks.  The Devon team included five current England International players and a wealth of competitive experience at this level.  Undeterred by the reputation of their opponents, Worcestershire (with our two International players) settled to give them a good game.  The joint scores indicated a tight match throughout the game but after 10 ends Worcestershire were 5 down overall (Worcs 19, Devon 24). Not deterred by this, Worcestershire went on to narrow the gap, being 3 down at 18 ends (Worcs 35, Devon 38). In a nail-biting finish, Worcestershire gained another 7 shots to Devon’s 2 shots in the last 3 ends to finish 2 up overall.

The travelling reserves were Win Aldred and Sue Cullis.

Worcestershire will now play in the Regional Finals at Taunton BC, Somerset on Sunday, 15^th July 2012.
